"Most everyone acknowledges that they should eat healthier, exercise more, and even lose several pounds to feel good about themselves; myself included. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity for Sherri to guide me through this lifestyle challenge. The challenge was quite easy, as I was able to set small changes (health goals) on a weekly basis. Goals that I was able to live with and could easily accomplish, such as: substituting 1% milk in my morning coffee in lieu of cream, eating 5 salads a week, and start each day with a nutritious breakfast. I love banana and peanut butter with my juice in the morning.
Sherri was extremely helpful in providing healthy alternatives to problem foods, like potato chips and my late night bowl of ice cream. It was amazing how easy it was once I understood the benefit of the new foods and the detriment of the snacks I was eating …. Although I still enjoy an ice cream on occasion!
The Lifestyle Journal was a great tool for me to understand the nutrition essentials of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. By recording my daily meals, with associated calories, carbs, fats, proteins and portion sizes, it was clear to see the benefits as I progressed from week 1. The journal also enabled me to record my daily exercise. Sherri is excellent in evaluating your current exercise routines (if any) and formulating a program specific for you, which includes every major muscle group and flexibility exercises, while you record your progress.
I was committed to this nutrition program for a short 8 weeks and continue my improved healthy living today. I am proud of myself for making time to exercise and eat healthier. But, my most exciting result was that my cholesterol level dropped from 200 to 153! And, oh yeah, I lost 14 pounds too.
